i should put the two of you in touch. ben has done a significant amount of work improving the "C" version of sparseAim. his goal, which he has nearly attained, is to provide a public domain/free ware ansii "C" version. i suspect that the code will be more durable and faster than any of the matlab implementations and much easier to port than the existing "C" versions.
