This is also my view. Stéphane told me that MATLAB 6.5 is using Atlas and has no JIT compiler, so I guess it is no faster than Octave. Moreover, I don’t have any MATLAB 6.5 installed. So, if you agree, let’s bump the requirement to MATLAB 7.0 or higher (George: Dynare works with MATLAB 7.0, at least for simple tasks, I test it from time to time).
